Why Limousin?
1. Limousin advantages in efficiency are well documented through data gathered at the U. S. Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Nebraska. This data shows the Limousin genetic advantage in turning inputs into pounds of red meat, which should bode well for the 21st century beef industry.  (by, Clifford Mitchell )This means food intake is turned to muscle at a higher rate than most breeds. Food = Higher Red Meat Yields = More poundage!

2. Limousin is the largest Continental breed registry in the United States and is the leader in Muscle Growth Efficiency. (by, Dr. Kent Andersen )

3. Results from the breed comparison study at Clay Center, Nebraska, show that Limousin females are of moderate height and weight and produce medium-sized calves with little calving difficulty. In addition, the calves are vigorous at birth with a high proportion surviving until weaning. (by, Dr. Lauren Hyde )

4. Limousin cows have a long life span. (by, Dr. Lauren Hyde )

5. Results from the Clay Center breed comparison study show that Limousin females produce intermediate levels of milk both 12 hours and 200 days following parturition and surpass straightbred Angus in both categories. (by, Dr. Lauren Hyde )

6. With their moderate size, long life span, optimum level of milk production, and biological efficiency, Limousin-cross cows are an excellent choice for commercial cattle producers under a wide variety of market targets and production environments. (by, Dr. Lauren Hyde )

7. Limousin has gained a favorable reputation for their calving-ease, calf vigor and overall survivability. (by, Benjie Lemon )

8. Uniformity -Go to any sale barn in the country and you'll see just how
important uniformity is. Limousin genetics are both non-spotter and
non-diluter, resulting in no spots, no grays, etc. (by, Kyle Haley, Editor of the Limousin World )
